Jon Seidel has covered federal courts and legal affairs for the Chicago Sun-Times since 2015, most recently writing about litigation tied to Operation Midway Blitz. He’s also covered several high-profile trials in Chicago, including of former Illinois House Speaker Michael J. Madigan, R&B superstar R. Kelly and ex-Chicago Police Officer Jason Van Dyke. 

Seidel is the author of Second City Sinners.

Seidel was born in Pennsylvania but has spent the majority of his life in the Midwest and graduated from Ball State University in 2004. He covered politics in northwest Indiana and criminal courts in Will County, Illinois, before he joined the staff of the Sun-Times in 2012.
